Comprises culinary recipes for preserving and pickling fish, mushrooms, onions, red cabbage, gherkins, oranges and lemons; plus black hog's pudding, "soup for the poor"; curries; puddings, cakes, jams, jellies, ginger beer, ginger wine, and currant wine. Also includes a few medicinal recipes and a "receipt for rendering shoes impervious to wet." Recipes are attributed to individuals with the surnames Chapman, Mitchell, Davies, Bell, Dallaway, Polehampton, Powls, Weight, Walper, White, Capt. Donovan and Capt. Peacock. A recipe for Scotch Woodcock is attributed to Lord Egremont, Petworth, possibly George O'Brien Wyndham Egremont.
