Charleston, S.C. merchant and plantation owner. He was the son of Nathaniel Russell Middleton (1810-1890) and Margaret Emma Izard (1811-1836). Arthur Middleton was the owner of Daisy Bank, a plantation on the Santee River (S.C.), and other properties. During the Civil War he served in the Santee Rifles and, after being invalided, served in the Quartermaster's Department of the C.S.A. Army.
