Signed by R. E. O'Connor, the letter to 'my dear Aubrey' accompanies 'the Chief Justice's photo together with one of my own duly signed'. A photocopy of the photograph accompanies the letter. The photograph to which the letter refers has been housed in the Pictures Section of the National Library.

Judge and politician. Richard Edward O'Connor was a member of the New South Wales Parliament, an elected representative at the 1897-98 Constitutional Convention, Minister and Parliamentarian in the Federal Parliament and Judge of the Arbitration Court.
