Principal correspondents are Lord Carrington, Governor of New South Wales, 1884-90 and Sir Ronald Munro Ferguson, Governor-General of Australia, 1914-20. Other correspondents include Lord Ripon, Robert Murray Smith, Edward Wallington, Robert Louis Stevenson, J. Henniker Heaton, Lord Hopetoun, Lord Beauchamp and Lord Brassey. Subjects include British politics, vice-regal appointments, Australian Federation, imperial relations, French convict system in New Caledonia, British and German annexation in New Guinea, naval defence, New Hebrides, honours, Australian involvement in World War I, recruiting, economic problems, and visit of the Prince of Wales to Australia in 1920.
