Beyond the mirage [manuscript] : autobiography of Arthur Upfield. 1937.

This collection comprises an unpublished autobiography (369pp) by Upfield. Entitled 'Beyond the mirage', it details his life up to the time of the Murchison murders in Western Australia in 1932-33. Upfield attained some notoriety when these murders were found to be based on the plot of his novel 'The sands of Windee', published in 1931. Parts of the autobiography were reworked for publication in magazines and newspapers. Arthur Upfield's date of birth is notated as between 1888 and 1892.
