Letters 1857-58, Includes letters (14 Apr-1 Nov. 1858) from John Hunter Patterson, Melbourne to his eldest son Myles at Kamarooka Station; Letter to his youngest son D.W.H. Patterson 22 July 1858 and one from Jane Patterson to her brother Myles, 8 June 1857. Letters contain family news and discussion of farming matters. Typed transcript prepared by J.O. Randell, 18-19 Sept. 1979. Transcript includes footnotes. Also "Catalogue of sale by public auction", 6 Jan. 1854, of furniture and other household goods at residence of J.H. Patterson of Moorabbee, near the Campaspe.

John Hunter Patterson (1810-1859) arrived in Australia in 1822 settling in Victoria in 1837and taking up Greenhills Station. He held various other properties in the Colony. Daniel Whittle Harvey (1848-1931), known as Harvey, was his third son. He was a property owner in New South Wales with his elder brother Myles and later a mining investor, owning shares in the Broken Hill mine among others.
