Fred Parsons was born in England in 1908 and emigrated to Australia with his parents when young. He first worked as a copy boy at the Melbourne Herald. He began writing for stage as a hobby in the 1930s and was scriptwriter and stage director at the Tivoli Theatre 1937-1943. From 1940 he wrote for radio and then for television.
