The Australian Teachers' Federation was formed in 1921. In 1924, the Federated State School Teachers' Association of Australia was set up, in order to be registered while the A.T.F. was still functioning. In 1928, the A.T.F. was wound up and its functions taken over by the F.S.S.T.A.A. and the first annual conference was held in January, 1929.
