Rev. P. MacPherson apparently returned to Australia from studying in England, in 1857. He was the Free Church minister of Meredith and Lethbridge, Victoria, 1858-c.1875 and Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Eastern Australia, at Maitland, 1876-1878. He died in 1886. In 1973 the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches agreed on a Union. Elements within the churches opposed union, including Rev. Neil McLeod and Mr. Charles Brilkly. These men approached the N.S.W.
