Original diaries, 22 December 1915-12 January 1918, describing Arthur Foxcroft's experiences on voyage on troopship "Suevic", his service in Egypt, France and England, his voyage home on troopship "Borda", and arrival in Mebourne. Also, fair copy of diary entries 22 December 1915-23 October 1916, which also includes a summary of Foxcroft's war service and an essay about Egypt. Collection also includes letters and postcards from A.J. and W. Foxcroft to their family in Coburg, Vic., 12 July 1916-18 August 1918; form letters, membership card, souvenir booklet and tickets issued by the YMCA, 1917-1918; ship newspaper, menus and concert programme issued on voyage on troopship "Borda", 1917; maps and information booklets about Britain for use by members of the A.I.F.; periodicals; press cuttings; and miscellaneous printed ephemera. Also, photographs, including portraits of Foxcroft and other soldiers, view of grave of J.C. Siseman, 4th Battalion, portraits of a family in England who cared for Foxcroft whenhe was wounded, portraits found by Foxcroft at Pozieres, France, July 1916, and a view of the troopship "Suevic" with passengers' signatures. Also, an identity disc.

Arthur John Foxcroft (no. 3090) enlisted on 9 August 1915, served as a Private with the 4th Battalion, and was repatriated to Australia on 26 September 1917. His family lived in Coburg, Vic. After several preliminary attempts, the Young Men's Christian Association (Y.M.C.A.) was established in Spokane Falls, Washington Territory on November 4, 1884.
