Transcript of the diary of Alexander Gray, a member of Duncan McIntyre's party in search of Ludwig Leichardt. Also, letter by Duncan McIntyre, 4 December, 1865 recommending Gray to future employers. The diary was transcribed by staff of the Australian Manuscripts Collection, State Library of Victoria, in 1983.

F. W. L. Leichhardt, explorer, was born in Prussia. He emigrated to Sydney in 1842 and the following year embarked on the first of series of explorations into Northern New South Wales and Queensland.
