Includes eight chapters covering the following areas: Chapter 1 covers early development including formation of the Boroondara District Road Board, appointment of first paid officials, development of the first roads; Chapter 2 covers the development of railways, and the setting of rates; Chapter 3 covers the continuing development of the area; Chapter 4 covers the development of water, gas and railway services in the area; Chapter 5 covers the development of commercial and recreational services in the area; Chapters 6 and 7 cover the overall development of the municipality from 1861 to 1920; and the last chapter gives statistical information on the municipality, war service in both World Wars by both residents of Camberwell and employees of theCamberwell City Council as well as the history of various schools in the area.
