Letter, 27 September 1857, by James Cooper Stewart to his father, covering his voyage to Australia. Includes description of conditions of travel and route taken to Australia. Stewart left Breckin, Forshire, Scotland on 1 June 1857 and made his way, via Dundee and Edinburgh to Liverpool. He sailed from Liverpool on the Marco Polo, 7 June 1857, and disembarked at Melbourne 3 September 1857.
