Letter from Mr Baker to Mr Hunter at Hatton. Says that he has heard that Mr Hunter is in town but cannot visit him because he is returning to Thistleworth. He suggests that they meet there at his lodgings. He refers to a hospital and to Dr Battie and Dr Pitcairn.

Sir George Baker, physician, was the son of the vicar of Modbury, Devonshire, educated at Eton and at King's College, Cambridge. He graduated in 1745, then proceeded M.D. in 1756, and the following year was elected a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. Baker made an important addition to medical knowledge in the discovery that the Devonshire colic and the colic Pictonum were forms of lead poisoning.
