Papers of C.A. Burmester. 1934-1990.

The papers relate mainly to Burmester's work as a senior member of the staff of the National Library of Australia and to his scholarly and bibliographical activities in his retirement. They include reports, minutes and other internal documents, correspondence, speeches, talks, draft bibliographies and copies of his unpublished memoirs. There are papers on the Conference on Source Materials for Australian Studies (1961), the National Book Resources Development Committee (1963-1964), and the Humanities Research Centre at the Australian National University (1974-1978). Other papers relate to the four volume work National Library of Australia: guide to the collections (1974-1982). The correspondents include Sir Rex Nan Kivell, J.A. La Nauze, L.F. Fitzhardinge, A.P. Fleming and Dan Sprod.
