Simmons J. Baker papers, 1793-1859.

The collection includes recollections of the Baker and related families of southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, written from personal knowledge and tradition by Simmons J. Baker in 1847, with a few undated genealogical notes; a volume of farm accounts and some merchandise shipping records, 1845-1854, of Thomas H. Watson, planter of eastern North Carolina, including a few accounts with slaves or free blacks and entries relating to Baker's estate, 1853-1854; and a few miscellaneous receipts and other enclosures, 1800-1859 and undated.
