Richard B. Hall was born March 24, 1947, in Mendota, Illinois. He received his B.S. (1969) in forest management from Iowa State University and his Ph.D. (1974) in plant breeding/plant genetics (forestry) from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. Hall joined the Forestry Department at Iowa State University as a Research Associate (1974).
