Keith Humble was born in Geelong in 1927. A child prodigy, he won a music scholarship to study overseas. Humble studied and lived in London and Paris, returning to Australia in 1966. He lectured at the University of Melbourne Conservatorium, was the Foundation Professor of Music at La Trobe University and a visiting Professor at the University of California, San Diego. Larry Sitsky was born in Tientsin, China in 1934, and came to Australia in 1951. He studied at the N.S.W. State Conservatorium of Music, and after graduating in 1954 continued his piano studies with Winifred Burston and later in the U.S.A. with Egon Petri. On his return to Australia, Sitsky took up positions at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and the University of Queensland.
