Album of photographs dating from circa 1889-1890 that were either taken or collected by W. Bittle Wells (1872-1965), who later became the editor of The Pacific Monthly and Sunset magazines. The photographs document scenic views in Alaska, Washington state, and Oregon such as Sitka, Alaska; the Columbia River and Columbia River Gorge, including canneries and fish wheels; Native Americans and cowboys in eastern Oregon; street scenes in Portland, Or., including views of the Joss family home; and a trip to Fort Canby (now Cape Disappointment State Park) in Washington state that depicts W. Bittle Wells, his future wife Mabel Lavern Parker, and friends.
