Labor educator and historian Alice Hoffman was an officer in the Pennsylvania Labor History Society who collected materials about labor history in order to donate them to the Labor Archives at Penn State University. Local 2898 of USWA represented workers at three SKF steel plants in Philadelphia, Pa. beginning in 1944. It apparently dissolved sometime after 1979. Alice M. Hoffman, labor historian, labor educator, and oral historian was associate professor of labor studies at King of Prussia, Penn State in the 1970s. She supervised and conducted numerous oral history interviews as director of the Labor Oral History Project, served as an officer with the Oral History Association (1974 to 1976) and the Pennsylvania Labor History Society (ongoing), and joined Bryn Mawr College after retiring from Penn State.
