The images document the town of Newton, Utah and the surrounding area or are related to the Joseph Jeppe Larsen and the Larsen family. The images were collected or taken by J. J. Larsen and his brother Hyrum. Included are images of agriculture, irrigation, the Newton Cooperative Store, social and church activites, homes, schools, the Wheelon coffer dam on the Bear River, J.J. Larsen and the Larsen family, the 1897 Agricultural College of Utah graduating class, Cache Junction, and the Newton tithing house.

Joseph Jeppe Larsen (1873-1967) was born in Newton, Utah, the son of Christian Hansen and Marianne Larsen. In 1895 Larsen enrolled at the Agricultural College of Utah (now Utah State University) to study dairy husbandry and graduated in 1897. Larsen was employed as a teacher at a number of schools in Utah from 1898 to 1903. Larsen married Lettie Christensen in 1900. In 1903 Larsen returned to Newton and worked as a teacher and farmer; in 1907 he quit teaching and pursued farming full time. He wa...
