Barton Booth was a famous English actor and successful theatre manager. Born in Lancashire, he left Trinity College to become an actor, starting with a theatrical company in Dublin. His subsequent return to London was an immediate success, and he became known for dramatic roles, playing Shakespearean figures such as King Lear, Marc Antony, and Brutus.
