Papers, 1942-1946.

Records from Tyndall's term as mayor of Indianapolis, 1942-1946, dealing mostly with city government. Civil defense and the U.S. Conference of Mayors, which took place in Indianapolis in January, 1943, are major topics. Other topics include housing, the airport, City Hospital, the Engineering Department, the Parks Department, and smoke abatement. The collection gives a good picture of the procedures followed by a mayor taking office, and also of the effect of World War II on city governments.
