An account of the Jesuit missions in Sinaloa and neighboring localities, covering the period 1593-1629 and including information on the early history of the region, its inhabitants and its natural characteristics, and its conquest and pacification under Spanish rule. Composed chiefly of an introduction, transcripts or summaries from annual reports addressed to the Jesuit Provincial or from letters of Jesuit missionaries such as Martín Pérez, Juan Bautista Velasco, Nicolás de Arnaya, and others, and a copy of Martín Duarte's "Testimonio Jurídico" (1600) on the Avila-Santarén expedition.
