ALS, 1867 February 26 : Mexico, to Mariano Degollado, Washington, D.C.

Juarez thanks Degollado for his support and refers to the victory at Calpulalpan as the end of Maximilian's empire. He thanks Degollado for his thoughts on the restoration of the constitution and the reform laws and refers to Maximilian's reign as "The Empire of Reaction." Degollado, a Spaniard came to Mexico in 1863 and was sent with the Mexican legation of Washington, DC.
