Diary of overland wagon train journey led by Joseph Chiles, from Missouri to California. Describes encounters with Indians and a meeting with Joseph R. Walker. Additional comments on San Francisco and San Jose (Oct. 1848 - Dec. 1849) and a few accounts (1849-1850) at end of volume. With this, typed copy of the family record of Richard Martin May, (3 l.); and microfilm of transcript of journal (with added notes to 1859) titled "A sketch of a migrating family to California."
