Copy of a compilation made in 1852 of 74 items relating to the ecclesiastical and civil history of the Province of Texas and outlying regions, including Louisiana and Florida, prepared by an anonymous Franciscan to supplement the Memorias of Morfi. Copied from the "Historia" section in AGN., Vols. 27-28, and corresponding in large part to the closing portion of Brantz Mayer's "Manuscritos Mexicanos" (BANC MSS M-M 281, Nos. 19 et seq.). Contains Bonilla's "Breve Compendio de la Historia de Texas" (1772); diaries of León (1689), and Solís (1767) on expeditions to Texas; letters, statements, and reports of Massanet, San Miguel de Aguayo, Margil, Ramón, etc., and documents concerning the journeys of Saint-Denis (1713-1715). The volume includes also the diary of Peña, 1721-1722, on the Aguayo expedition to Texas; letters of Urrutia, Alcivia, Jiménez, Ripperdá, and Mézières, and many petitions and reports concerning Texas missions.

Azlor y Virto de Vera, Marquis de Aguayo (1677-1734) was born in Spain and moved to Mexico with his wife, Ignacia Xaviera, in 1712. In 1719 he became governor and captain general of the provinces of Coahuila and Texas. In 1720, he formed the Aguayo expedition to reoccupy East Texas missions and presidios abandoned by the French, thus cementing Spain's claim to Texas.
