Contemporary translated copies of letters from Commodore Jones to Governor Manuel Micheltorena, Oct. 21 & Nov. 1, 1842, and from Micheltorena to Jones, Dec. 1, 1842 (with typed transcripts); translation of a review of a pamphlet, The Texan Revolution, by David Lee Child (published 1843 under the pseudonym, Probus) which was critical of Jones' actions and U.S. relations with Mexico; photostat of a letter, Oct. 3, 1845, from Jones to George Bancroft, Secretary of the Navy, making application to succeed Commodore Sloat as commander of the Pacific Squadron.
