The Bruno Scott James papers, 1957-1988 (bulk 1976-1984).

The Bruno Scott James papers consist of correspondence sent and received by Msgr. James, as well as a number of manuscripts by him. The originals of the correspondence from Msgr. James are located in other collections, specifically, the Douglas Woodruff papers and the Sir Arnold Lunn papers in the Georgetown University Special Collections Research Center. Those letters are represented in this collection by photocopies. The bulk of the correspondence relating directly to Msgr. James is to or from his friend, William Gordon Wheeler, Bishop of Leeds, and concerns the prospective publication of the 'Spiritual letters of Bruno Scott James'. Of particular note among the manuscripts in this collection is a typescript of the 'Letters' prepared by Bishop Wheeler. Supplementing the Bruno Scott James material is correspondence of Bishop Wheeler, much of it with Patrick McLaughlin and others regarding the proposed establishment of a seminary for liturgical studies.
