Decret de l'Ássemblé nationale, [1792 aug. 12] / Danton.

A certificate conforming to the original decree of the French National Assembly, concerning the Swiss Guards who were on duty at the palace to defend King Louis XVI the night of the uprising of Aug. 10-11, 1792. The document is stamped in red with a seal bearing the inscription "Louis XVI P.L.G.D. Dieu et P.L. Loy Constitutionelle Roy de Francois." At the time of the decree Georges Danton was Minister of Justice and played a leading role in the French Revolution. He voted for the death of Louis XVI and was himself eventually guillotined.
