The autobiography is a 4-page typescript written by Ann Spence Warner in roughly 1932 after she had published her first novel: Sidesaddle Ranch (1930). There is a 2-page addendum to the autobiography listing the titles, dates and publication titles for the short stories she had written between 1918-1932.

The author, Ann Spence Warner was born in Napanee, Ontario Canada but came to Colorado as a young child. Because of periodic bouts with illness, she frequently missed school, but did graduate from the old East Denver High School located at 19th (Nineteenth) and Stout Streets in Denver. It was shortly after this period of time that Ann Spence Warner went to live on the Sidesaddle Ranch near Sedalia, Colorado to recuperate from surgery. When the Arapahoe School opened in Denver, Colo. 1873, it served school district no. 1 as both high school and grade school.
