Sadler and his wife, Dr. Lena Kellogg Sadler, advertised by the Sadlers through their lectures at chautauquas, 1912-1939; Chicago Intelligence Bureau, an agency which reported on the standing of various charities to Chicago businessmen, 1940; and CHICAGO JOURNAL OF HEALTH, a fake medical journal run by A. F. Leopold and used to boost various patent medicines, 1909-1935.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration originated as part of the Dept. of Agriculture. In 1940, it was transferred to the Federal Security Agency, where it remained until 1953, when it became part of the newly created Dept. of Health, Education and Welfare.
