Correspondence, reports, advertisements, articles and clippings, and promotional and supplementary materials concerning a swindler and various patent medicines allegedly containing castor oil. Records include: H.C. Castle, a swindler, who pretended to sell the "Simplex Endoscopic Outfit" to various doctors, but merely took their money and disappeared, 1917-1921; Castor Oils--material on various brands and on castor oil in general, 1906-1950; Casca Royal Pills (or Blackburn's Castor Oil Pills), cathartics promoted by J. Robert Blackburn and falsely claimed to contain castor oil, 1909-1935; Castoria and similar preparations, 1906-1969; Castorsalt, a cathartic falsely alleged to contain castor oil, 1909; Covington's Castor-Jel, 1915; and Laxol, 1910-1940.
