Correspondence of Roy Harris and his wife Johana Harris (1973-83) relating to the composer's work. The correspondents include: Aaron Copland, Richard Nixon, Eugene Ormandy and Virgil Thomson. Also contains the correspondence of Jerome Lawrence relating to Harris' musical compositions which included the score for the Lawrence and Lee play, Turn on the night (1961). Includes an original, untitled composition with holograph notes (1967), photograph, promotional brochures and programs. Includes business correspondence, newsletter and miscellaneous materials (agendas, notes, by-laws, minutes of meetings, etc.) of The Roy Harris Society dating from the 1980's, also biographical material and a published catalog of the composer's works (Calif. State University, 1973). Also includes the correspondence, clippings, brochures, etc. of Johana Harris, chiefly from the 1980's and relating to her career as a concert pianist and music teacher.
