Papers relating primarily to Mr. Critchfield's book, Those days, including a preliminary chronology, family notes and research done in Iowa and North Dakota. There are four manuscript drafts of the book--his first, third, and fourth drafts, the copyedited draft and the galley proof. The oral histories (Cassette tapes no. 225-330) are interviews he conducted in the course of his research with family members and those who knew the family, primarily in North Dakota. For some there are typed, partial transcripts or summaries. Finally there is a small collection of magazine and newspaper articles (1953-1986) written by or about Mr. Critchfield including reviews of Those days.
