Literary manuscripts.

The collection consists of four of his sea stories, presumably written in his hand. All have corrections. The longest story is A Sailor's Legacy or Scenes on the Quarter Deck. This manuscript includes a preface with a detailed table of contents and chapters IV-XXVII (the final chapter). There are three shorter stories: The Spanish Pirate or Scenes on the Coast of Cuba; Old Norman, the Sailor Hermit; and Kate Morrison, the Sailor's Daughter. Evidently these were to be published together under the collective title The Black Flag or Three Stories Illustrating Different Phases of Piracy.
