This small collection includes a book review of John Barrow's Life, Voyages, and Exploits of Sir Francis Drake (published 1843). The review, written in a booklet of 48 leaves, is in Drake's hand and has some emendations. The remainder of the collection is a small assortment of notes, correspondence, epitaphs, and autographs. There is a copy of a letter from Drake (1869) and several items of correspondence of his son, Samuel Adams Drake. Miscellaneous items have been transferred from this folder to the following collections: U.S. Revolution, Civil War, California, Misc. "W" (Windsor, Conn., town records), and Misc. "F" (William Foye certificate).

Samuel Gardner Drake, antiquarian and author. Drake was born to Simeon and Love Muchmore (Tucke) Drake in Pittsfield, New Hampshire, on October 11, 1798. After teaching for several years in New Hampshire and New Jersey, Drake established a book auction business in 1828.
