Correspondence, 1880-1900.

Almost all of this correspondence consists of letters from writers, poets, illustrators, book dealers, publishers, and bookbinders to the firm--there are very few copies of letters sent by Copeland & Day and none of their personal papers. The collection does include receipts and business papers for both Lewis and Fred Day. There are a few proof sheets and occasional fragments of original manuscripts. There is an undated photographic postcard with the pencilled notation "F. H. Day examining debris after fire" (Box #2, miscellaneous papers folder).
