Copies of her correspondence with Frank Norton ( - ) and sections of the 1881-1882 diary do not appear among the originals at the Library of Congress (the AAS diary selections for the period 21 December 1881 to 8 April 1882 are not duplicated in the Library of Congress collection, which does include diary selections for 1 January to 24 July 1882 and 8 October to 1 November 1882). The AAS has a folder of deeds relating to family property in North Oxford as well as two boxes of original correspondence of Barton with the following members of her family: her sister, Sarah Barton Vassall, Mrs. Vester (1811-1874); her niece, Ida Adelia Barton Riccius, Mrs. Adolf Gustav (1847-1911); Frances Maria Childs Vassall, Mrs. Bernard B. (1834- ) Annie Childs (1827-1888); her cousin, Ira Moore Barton (1796-1867); and others.

Ira Moore Barton (1796-1867) graduated from Brown in 1819 and Harvard Law School in 1822. In 1823, he married Maria Waters Bullard (1800-1883), the daughter of Artemas and Lucy White Bullard. Barton studied law with Sumner Barstow in Oxford and later with Levi Lincoln in Worcester. He served as a state representative and senator from Oxford in the period 1830 to 1834, before moving to Worcester in 1834.
