André Girard was aprintmaker and maker of rare books. His particular interest was serigraphy, a pet-project of Carl Zigrosser's. Their friendly correspondence is mostly related to the distribution of an illustrated book about the Sermon on the Mount. The book, heavily illustrated by Girard with serigraphs and produced in English and in French, was paid for by the Margaret Grace Boegner Foundation, and distributed to institutions by the Philadelphia Museum of Arts. The bulk of this file is correspondence relating to the Sayings of Jesus, 1956. There is also a folder of publication and exhibition announcements, many of which incorporate original serigraphs by Girard.

Andre Girard, religious painter, was born in France and migrated to the United States after World War II. A leading figure in the French Underground in World War II, Girard initially drew caricatures of the Nazis but later turned to religious paintings, including subjects such as the life of Jesus Christ.
