AM, [1810] : "The Ohio, Episode 1", [Published in the Ornithological Biography, Vol. 1 p. 29-32.].

Audubon recalls his voyage down the Ohio River from Pennsylvania to Kentucky with his wife and infant son in 1810. He describes the unspoiled beauty of the countryside and reflects on the changes during the two decades since his voyage. He pleads for "Our Irvings and our Coopers" to record frontier life while it can still be seen.
