Records and maps of World War I, possibly used by Syme while an instructor at West Point. Includes maps and lectures concerning the Meuse-Argonne Offensive and of the St. Mihiel Salient; typescripts of a lecture on the battle around Metz in the Franco-Prussian War, 1870; and notes and lectures on operations in the vicinity of Chateau-Thierry and the Vesle River.

West Point, N.Y., was originally utilized as a strategic defense location during the American Revolution. West Point is geographically located on a 100 ft. plateau overlooking the Hudson River. After the American victory Congress created a Corps of Invalids (veterans) that were transferred to West Point for the purpose of instructing candidates for commission.
