Papers of John Simpson contain records of estates for which he acted as executor, especially the estates of Rhoda Grubbs and John V. Cornwell; a contract with freedmen; and an unsigned copy of a speech, ca. 1833, on Andrew Jackson and the doctrine of states' rights. Volumes include a ledger, 1847-1864, containing accounts of a blacksmith business, charges for a studhorse, and mercantile accounts; an account book with records of the estate of John V. Cornwell; and a mercantile account book, 1844-1848, belonging to Nathan Simpson.
