Phillips, of the 2nd Regiment of North Carolina Infantry Volunteers, who describes the U.S. Navy blockade of Norfolk, Va., and Union and Confederate leadership, 1861; and Edmund M. Phillips, a Confederate soldier at Wilmington, N.C., who comments on military and naval actions there, 1862.
