Notarial agreement and inventory of furnishings of the estate of Michel-François Le Tellier, marquis de Courtenvaux, 1726, July 1.

Manuscript comprises two sections: a notarial agreement (9 p.) that records the division of property among the descendents of François-Michel Le Tellier, marquis de Louvois; an estate inventory (69 p.) of tapestries, carpets, furniture, chandeliers, porcelain, paintings, sculpture, etc., inherited by his son, Michel François Le Tellier, marquis de Courtenvaux (1663-1721). Accompanying the manuscript is a typescript summary in English of the notarial agreement that also provides biographical information about members of the Le Tellier family based upon entries from the Dictionnaire de la noblesse (1873), photocopies of which accompany the manuscript. A typescript cover letter from the partnership of J.L.M. and H.G. Gulley to Michael Brand, Marlborough Rare Books (Oct. 28, 1998), a dealer's catalog description, and two sheets of handwritten notes also accompany the manuscript.
