Ledger and memorandum books, 1774-1832.

Memorandum books 1776 and 1776-1792 contain accounts for expenses of various Chester Co. companies during the Revolutionary War. Included are accounts for wages and firearms. The 1776-1792 book also includes accounts of road surveying. Farm ledger includes labor accounts and accounts for a store and gristmill.

Richard Thomas was born Dec. 30, 1744 in West Whiteland Twp. During the Revolutionary War, he served as a colonel of the First Regiment Chester County Volunteers.
