Gertrude Margaret Lowthian Bell (1868-1926) Traveller, Archaeologist and Government Official Born 14 July 1868, the eldest daughter of Sir Hugh Bell, 2nd. Bt. Educated at Queen’s College, London and Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, whence she graduated with 1st class Honours in History in 1887.
