Chiefly letters from Jones to his wife describing a tour (1849) through the North and letters to Samuel J. Barnett relating to Northern education. Includes descriptions of Washington, Philadelphia, Baltimore, New York, New Haven, Boston, and Providence; notes and essays written by Jones while a student at South Carolina College (now the University of South Carolina); and an account book kept by his son, B.H. Jones, during his service in the Confederate Army and as a farmer in Alabama.
