Hillyer Rudisill, Jr. was born in Macon, Georgia in 1902. He completed his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1924, and was later an instructor of radiology at the University of Chicago. Dr. Rudisill came to Charleston, South Carolina in 1931 to take a position as a radiologist at Roper Hospital and as a professor of radiology and electrotherapy at the Medical College of the State of South Carolina.
