Scrapbook. Howard University and South Carolina physician. Contains correspondence, programs, invitations, newspaper clippings. There are several programs and clippings concerning Avery Institute. In general, scrapbook contains items about black individuals, organizations, and istitutions in South Carolina. Holmes married Louise Fordham, daughter of the poet, Mary Weston Fordham. He acted as principal of Wilson School in Florence, S.C., then studied for the medical profession at Howard University. Graduating in 1910, he established a practice. The scrapbook includes items covering a span of time roughly from the end of Reconstruction to World War I.
